continued - on time and fate and everything related
the american belief - system - you make your own life and future - as you sow so you reap - if you have the will and the fighting power you can make something great out of yourself, Greek philosophy - your fate is set and you will inevitably follow the path which has been set for you no matter what you do - so if you were suppose to kill your father become the king and sire children with you mother - no matter how much precaution you take it is going to happen - very grim view of life as opposed to the nice sunny view of the American belief system. The Americans have supreme belief in men and God i supposed to endorse whatever good their doing - Greek philosophy - God or fate has already set you path you simply follow it.
Now the even better question - which do I believe - well confused as I am - I have a confused answer again - you are the maker and breaker of you r own life as long as your field of vision is you - but if your perspective changes - then you are the maker and breaker of other peoples lives - depending on how you are doing your parents might have a better end of life and your children will have a better beginning of life - even larger view of the same picture - you were born - and inthe larger scheme of things - you will have to die - but depending on how you chart out your own path - other people will have their paths set - as to how they will live or die. That is a lot of burden on just one single person. But how much can you deviate from the path anyway - if you were brought up with a certain set of values and beliefs and you totally by pass them to embrace something else - and become the leader of a cult or something - then you are influencing so many people around you - you are changing so many more lives around you - was this meant to happen - was this the decided fate you were meant to follow or was this just a lucky or unlucky coincidence (depending on what you become) - that made you into what you are shaped so many other peoples lives - so - were Newton Einstein and Marconi meant to discover all that they discovered - was it just a coincidence - if things have been decided from before and it is just a pattern that is happening - then there has to some math equation that can figure it out - does mankind shell out genius scientists and leaders when it is in dire straits 0 does nature make the funny combination of genes happen when it becomes evident that mankind needs a change? who decides what change is needed - how it will be brought about - and which lucky fetus is going to receive that lucky combination of genes.
The biggest question I have had since I was 12 years old - if my mother and father had not got married - would I have come into existence - correct answer - no - but does I consist of just this body - no it consists of me also -me in the sense of me the I that I am - but that is just a combination of memories from childhood - things acquired through adolescence and so on - So is I or me just a bunch of knotted up memories? Answer to be seeked - What do I consist of?
Anyway - if we let the camera pan out - we are insignificant specs in the huge universe - then why do we tend to make everything around us blow out of proportion and large and important - does it really matter -in the whole machinery of the universe -whether the earth exists or not - there might be numerous other earths out there which are harboring numerous other civilizations - in fact is it in the plan of things - for the universe - to have life at all? is it necessary for the universe -for that matter why did the universe come into existence?
One of the biggest reason why I like hitchhiker's guide - is that it defines the meaning of our existence very humorously - we are part of a big machine - which is trying to calculate - the meaning of life - but sadly according to the book at the exact moment when the answer would have been derived it gets annihilated - how ironic - :)
anyway my confused meanderings will continue...........
